Abstract:
Microstructures in martensites are often modeled variationally by singularly perturbed multiwell elastic energies. In this talk, I shall disusss recent analytical progress on the associated non-convex vector-valued energy minimisation problems. The focus will lie on scaling regimes for geometrically linear models for martensitic nuclei with small volume fraction of one martensitic variant, and on needle-like microstructures. <br> This talk is based on joint works with S. Conti, J. Diermeier, N. Lüthen, D. Melching, and M. Rumpf.
